POTcert Blog week 2

Semi-stuck on a topic for presentation. Interested in the whole spectrum of change as it seems to be a feature of my life currently. Problem is the subject keeps coming back to weird things happening where I used to work. Interesting study in systems adaptation but it seems off topic, kind of predictable and reflective therapy that can go on while I move on.

Of interest to me is the whole area of mentoring and now appreciative coaching  which came up again this morning with a link to a coaching course I think I’ll take. Already have some research completed on mentoring and triggering discussions in open online environments where teaching needs to be backgrounded in favour of allowing student realization which many of us here seem dedicated to.

The coaching information is here:

In addition there a couple of reports on student participation online to download and read. Both are secondary sources from here:

Liminal Participants and Skilled Orienteers: Learner Participation in a MOOC for New Lecturers http://jolt.merlot.org/vol9no2/waite_0613.htm

(I’m deliberately not hyperlinking. We learned always to put the URL in for people with slow service and editors who will follow and don’t want to have the extra work of recreating links that drop out when courses are rolled over).

Since I like to have audience in mind while working on any presentation I’ve selected the two below the current IKEA catalog.

Sorry about no pictures but I’ve crashed 5 times today and have had enough.
