Not a classroom teacher though I have taught apprentices in a few of the building trades and helped teachers build their own online courses in Moodle. Learning style has been tested to be visual / tactile which explains my one time attendance at an art college, numerous extension service drawing, painting, printing and design courses. Currently a text orientated learner (people do change styles) and struggle with any course requiring video viewing beyond something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omkRbY4uZ6E&NR=1&feature=endscreen
Or for the LA people here:
So if I was to have a teaching style it would be mostly emotion and hard stories about life.
The questionnaire score was 9 1/2 based on giving students as much freedom as possible. The idea being to let someone not know what they don’t know for a while so when they figure it out, it matters and powers them to search for more.
For a course I’d focus on change, creativity, humility and not accepting crap for who you are. The tension of a life full of contradictions and the unexpected–all those things my guidance counselor lived in mortal fear of and my probation officer knew all about:-)
Already have some references but nothing in the way of orderliness. Guess that’s next.
