Work

Before I can start another assignment for potcert I need to figure out how to disassemble some courses built a few years ago on a Flash platform that is very nice but will not play with our upgrade to Moodle 2.2. Essentially there are three types of file embedded into the interface and there must be a way to reassemble the files in some way that will make the very costly courses useable again.

I could put this down to a limitation of the LMS to adapt to all interface models but really this was an experiment that seemed promising at the time and when technologies changed to courses were left in the cold.

Will keep track of the project and post as often and as soon as I can.

What format are the files? Might be some way to embed with iframes.

I’m unfamiliar Flash but have been told the thing resides in a “Flash Interface” that was custom built by our last Teaching and Learning Technology coordinator and a sub-contractor. There are actually 3 courses to be redone and it would be very cool to get the content free of the interface. They are also a huge political irritant in the whole college community and the project has come to me because being casual means I have no career to screw-up if things don’t work out. (I write up the story of these courses some day and send it to you).

Not sure how to get a sample viewing as they are behind a password wall but I think we can get a viewing pass for you. Thanks for the offer, any help would be hugely appreciated! Let me see what can be done and I’ll get back to you tomorrow with some way for the main course to be viewed.

      Scott
